From Engineering To Production: Our Process
Specifications
Every project begins by understanding a client’s brief, whether that is a detailed spec or an idea to develop. We assess layout, usage, material requirements, and volume needs to prepare for an efficient, fit-for-purpose production plan.
Planning and Prototyping
At Sigma, we use rapid prototyping to bring fixtures to life quickly. This allows for early review, testing and iteration, which is especially useful for bespoke or time-critical retail environments.
Our advanced manufacturing techniques include vacuum moulding and CNC machining. Both are ideal for complex shapes, lightweight options or integrated features like lighting or digital touchpoints. Every material is carefully selected using our direct sourcing materials process to ensure durability, sustainability and cost control.
Production and Quality Control
Once approved, we manage production through our in-house team and trusted partners across the UK and via our Shanghai manufacturing base. All fixtures are subject to rigorous quality checks, including structural testing and certified weight inspections to ensure long-term performance and compliance. Documentation is also provided to support retailer safety or audit processes.

FAQs
What materials do you work with?
At Sigma, as retail display manufacturers, we select materials based on durability, sustainability and cost-efficiency, tailored to each project’s needs. We pride ourselves on sourcing the right materials for the customer’s brand or project, whether that’s metal (e.g. steel or aluminium), timber, plastics or glass.
We’ve also worked with recycled materials, including repurposed plastics, to help support clients’ sustainability messaging and environmental goals.
Do you offer prototypes?
Yes. We use rapid prototyping technology to create, sample and test key components ahead of production. While prototyping is typically reserved for larger-scale projects, we also build smaller models to test functionality, safety (e.g. load-bearing), design and user experience, and to identify potential issues before mass production begins.
Can you handle multi-site rollouts?
Absolutely, we can scale our production with ease to manage both national and international rollouts. We also offer logistics support and consolidation services.
What types of retail clients do you work with?
We partner with leading UK and international retailers across fashion, homeware and specialist sectors. Our manufacturing processes are tailored to meet each brand’s commercial requirements and specifications.
