Bradford, UK, 22nd September 2022

Sigma, a true end-to-end solutions provider, and a leading expert at transforming commercial spaces, has secured a major multi-year contract to deliver a new 52,000 Sq. Ft , ‘best-in-class’ equipment consolidation centre (ECC), along with a 24/7 Transport Solution for Marks & Spencer (M&S), further extending its relationship with the leading multi-national retailer.

Under the contract, Sigma will manage all of M&S’s GNFR (Goods not for resale) requirements, including New Store Openings, Renewals, Small Works and Rollout activity. The new facility, will operate 7 days per week, is bespoke to M&S, and will run with a keen focus on carbon neutrality, the site will also operate as a recycling and refurbishment hub supporting all of the M&S UK store network.

The site, which incorporates specifically guided racking to suit mixed sized products and oversized freight, electric manual handling vehicles also incorporates the latest standard of LED scheduled and controllable lighting throughout, fully installed by Sigma’s in house M&E team. In addition, a highly bespoke Fixture Management system is incorporated into the solution, providing full Supply Chain Optimisation.

Ideally located in Bradford, Yorkshire, next to the motorway network for easy access to the brand’s stores across the breadth of the UK, the equipment consolidation centre will maximise transport efficiencies and reduce annual delivery mileage for M&S, lowering overall transport costs and further decreasing the retailer’s environmental impact.

Stuart Thomas, Supply Chain Director added “This unique facility will not only provide an immediate and scalable consolidation solution that meets the needs of the M&S store development programme, but also create a circular economy for the retailer’s extensive GNFR stock, building the foundation for a more sustainable future.”

Neil Stinson, Head of Store Development and Location Planning, Property, M&S commented
