Value Of An End‑To‑End Solutions Provider

Value Of An End‑To‑End Solutions Provider

With minimal noise or disruption

Castleford, UK, 17th November 2025

Working with multiple contractors can make transformation projects complex and inefficient. Thomas Fletcher, Projects Director at Sigma, explores the value of partnering with a single end‑to‑end solutions provider when transforming retail and commercial spaces.

A Single Partner

By delivering entire projects, a total solutions partner simplifies everything for the client; one team, one schedule, one accountable delivery. Understanding both the ‘big picture’ and the finer details, every facet managed in unison – from streamlining overheads to eliminating duplication – resulting in fewer surprises and more predictable outcomes.

Partnerships of this nature can also make communication easier, while providing 360° visibility for clients, simplify project management, prevent delays and expedite completion. In‑house compliance teams, meanwhile, ensure risk is minimised and that safety also environmental regulations are fully compliant.

Moreover, with proficiency in refining design, improving operations, identifying inefficiency and enhancing sustainability, teams reduce excess waste, improve energy efficiencies and prolong life cycles. Combined with BEMS integration, these attributes can play a vital role in ensuring facilities are maintained effectively.

Dedicated Business Units

Transformation isn’t simply a construction job. It requires multiple specialist disciplines working together under a skilled project manager to oversee the project from feasibility to completion.

Leading design, planning, budgeting, procurement, compliance, installation, and inspection, the Projects team must have direct access to experts across Building Services (structural, M&E, HVAC, refrigeration), Display (fixtures, signage, brand presentation) and Logistics (GNFR warehousing, transport, JIT delivery, recycling).

Having in‑house business units can make all the difference: less coordination risk, tighter timelines and the agility to respond to change mid‑project.

A Single Provider In Practice

A recent transformation involving an end‑to‑end solutions provider was at a London store of a leading UK retailer.

The refurbishment presented a number of challenges. The modestly sized store offered limited space to carry out the work, and this was further hampered by the access limitations of an older building. In addition, the store was located close to a tube station and on a busy road with limited access for loading and unloading. Situated in a built‑up area, teams also had to manage noise and parking restrictions that limited the work being completed overnight.

While it was agreed the store would need to close to carry out the refurbishment safely and effectively, the contractor was given just over eight weeks to complete the project to retail readiness.

To address the challenges, the refurbishment teams condensed the programme so all elements could be completed in seven weeks. This gave the retailer enough time to restock shelves, train staff and prepare the store for reopening.

The work carried out during the project included the design, installation and commissioning of new HVAC, refrigeration and plant equipment, together with the installation of a new entrance door, sprayed elevations, bakery, flooring, lighting and fittings.

In addition, the newly formed self‑scan checkout and bakery areas were tiled, and a suspended ceiling was removed to create a brighter, more open atmosphere. The contractor also carried out the complete refurbishment of the store’s back‑of‑house and welfare areas.

The first of the retailer’s London store refurbishments, the project was completed successfully, with all work finished on time and on budget.

For businesses within the commercial and retail sectors, working with a single, end‑to‑end solutions partner can deliver significant advantages for the transformation and maintenance of facilities. It enables projects to be customised to clients’ needs, while ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, within budget and on time.
