Overview

Celebrating 30 years of a commercial partnership, the opening of the new service centre represented a landmark celebration of the giants of the Logistics and Food Retail industries, with classic articulated vehicles from Scania’s long history on show throughout the day.

With a desire to transform the previous facility in keeping with the demand of 24 hour a day vehicle testing and the requirement to service other operators’ vehicles and non-Scania marques, the challenge was to combine the Lutterworth and Lutterworth VMU workshops into one purpose-built premises close to the M1, M6 and M69 motorways.

The facility includes a four-bay workshop, tachograph bay, brake roller testing, wash bay and secure parking for 26 large goods vehicles as well as truck maintenance, the dealership offers a full service for trailers, including double-deck trailers, and tail-lifts.

Sigma

As a proven end-to-end provider having delivered Mechanical & Electrical schemes for clients such as Sports Direct, Primark & Asda, Sigma can deliver all of your M&E requirements. Schemes can include new and reconfigured electrical infrastructure including interior and exterior power and lighting locations to HVAC systems, data & communications, fire & security systems and signage.

With a proven pedigree and an energy efficiency driven mindset, Sigma challenged themselves to deliver a solution to Scania Keltruck to minimise ongoing running costs and energy consumption.

Results

Sigma were tasked with putting together a site design incorporating the workshop and back of house office spaces, to maximise efficiencies across the entire 17,500sqm facility, encompassing current environmental best practices.

As the main M&E contractor, Sigma were directly responsible for the procurement and installation of a brand new energy efficient LED lighting scheme across the entire site, incorporating day light harvesting and ambient light level control. Additional works included full new small power, fire alarms and new sub mains and electrical distribution.

With a keen eye on sustainable technology, Sigma installed a 4.4kW roof-mounted solar panel system and water-saving features throughout the facility – further driving increased energy efficiencies.

Such is the success the innovation of the scheme, Asda and Keltruck have already devised plans for any future schemes to be based off similar plans.

“Sigma designed, built and installed the electrics in Keltrucks purpose built workshop at Lutterworth including many energy saving features such as a lighting system in the workshop that adjusts to the light outside and solar panels installed on the roof. We at Keltruck, in conjunction with Asda and Sigma, are committed to saving energy and protecting the environment.”
