The Facts
Customer – ASDA
Result – Sigma Design, Installation and M&E teams worked seamlessly amending sales floor plans, surveyed and installed new fixtures, power sockets and light boxes at 95 ASDA stores. Bolstering the retailers’ proposition & market position.
Timeframe – January 2023 – December 2023
Constraints – Each store required a bespoke design
The Challenge
This retail sales floor redesign project required Sigma to adapt designs for each ASDA store, resolving layout challenges and ensuring consistency across the estate. This also posed issues throughout installation as the project management & M&E team needed to adapt their approaches based on specific store requirements.
The design team also managed the Scottish building warrant process, obtaining and managing warrant applications for 26 stores.
The Solution
Sigma’s Design team completed store drawings using ASDA’s plugins, preparing them for uploading to the company’s internal Data Management System (DMS). Existing sales floor plans were updated, while fixture layouts were amended with new equipment added and bays requiring new power sockets and light boxes marked.
To obtain the necessary Scottish building warrants, the Sigma Design team submitted applications, start and completion notices, together with supporting documents, which included detailed scoping drawings. Technical queries from Local Authorities were responded to, with the ASDA team kept updated at all times.
On completion, the Sigma Projects team surveyed the proposed plans and worked with the Sigma M&E team to install the new fixtures and fittings.
The Result
This retail sales floor redesign was delivered across 95 ASDA stores, with new fixtures, power sockets and light boxes successfully installed.
