The Challenge
Over a two-week period, Sigma delivered a retail installation rollout, installing 520 star gift units across multiple Boots stores, involving complex coordination of picking, fitting, ceiling access, and overnight waste removal—all while working closely with security teams. Installations were carried out across multiple stores per night, with repeated delivery and collection of plant equipment. Post-Christmas, units and decorations were removed, and existing tables repositioned as part of the All Year Round (AYR) setup. In total, 376 stores were serviced for Christmas and AYR, and 35 stores received enhancement deliveries, including matrix picking, kit installation, and waste removal.
The Solution
To meet the client’s needs, we developed a detailed matrix aligning store requirements with site specifics to determine necessary equipment, coordinated closely with the facilities team for delivery planning, and arranged site security for smooth operations. Daily progress updates kept stakeholders informed, while collaboration with the manufacturer ensured timely inbound deliveries. Challenges such as varying kit arrivals, access restrictions, and absent security staff required dynamic adjustments, including reallocating fitters and adapting installation plans. Additional resources were deployed to manage increased waste and enhancement volumes, including extra vehicles and newly onboarded security teams. Sigma went above and beyond by rerouting deliveries during road closures, manually transporting units when access was restricted, creatively installing décor without predefined layouts, and rapidly scaling logistics to meet last-minute demands—all while maintaining strong communication and site coordination throughout.
The Result
The retail installation rollout was completed on time and in budget, with all issues resolved within the project timeframe
Christmas:
Delivered and installed gifting tables and star gift units across 376 stores (520 pallets total). Fitters repositioned existing tables for Christmas layout.
Enhancement:
35 stores received 5 SKUs, averaging 265 units per store and 25 pallets. Equipment delivered, packaging and waste removed overnight.
All Year Round (AYR):
Post-Christmas, 376 stores had star gift units removed and tables repositioned. Decorations also removed from 35 stores.
